These are a few of my favorite luxury beauty items that I’ve tried over the years. I feel that each of these would make a thoughtful gift to someone in your life who really digs quality beauty products (hint hint if anyone was looking to get me something). I’ve linked all of the items pictured in the above text + use my link for 10% off all glossier items!
Glossier is a brand that emphasizes "skin first, makeup second" in their brand mission. Glowing, dewy skin is their goal with products designed to instantly optimize skin’s tone, texture, and hydration levels so that it’s already at its best before you even think about makeup.
My Glossier skincare routine starts by cleansing with the Milk Jelly Cleanser. I love how gentle it is on my sensitive skin and around my eye area. I follow cleansing with the Solution to sweep off dead skin cells. I then add moisture and vitamins back into my skin with the serum Super Bounce and Priming Moisturizer Rich.
Priming Moisturizer - 5 // This creme is light weight and super hydrating without being greasy. It plumps up the skin with hyaluronic acid and creates a really smooth and soft finish.
Body Hero Wash - 5 // I LOVE this wash. It smells lightly floral and a bit beachy. It is a mix of soothing and cleansing oils and truly is tough on dirtiness. It is also gynecologist tested to be gentle on your lady parts.
Moon Mask - 5 // HACK ALERT: I use this as an overnight mask! It is incredibly hydrating and plumping with a mix of hyaluronic acid, honey, and aloe.
Milk Jelly Cleanser - 4.5 // A super gentle cleanser that soothes and moisturizes while it takes off all makeup. It is formulated with rose water and gentle cleansers used in contact solution so it is really easy on the eye area. I use this morning and night and absolutely adore it, though some days I have to follow up with a charcoal scrub around my nose for deep pore cleaning. This product has won tons of best of beauty awards and is one of the top rated items on Glossier.com.
Priming Moisturizer Rich - 5 // Lavender oil and ceramides make this luxe moisturizer super hydrating and soothing. I love this as my night cream because it smells incredible and is really thick.
Body Hero Lotion - 4.5 // I love the smell, texture, and finish of this body lotion. It smooths out nicely without leaving skin greasy like other lotions I've tried. It has a light shimmer that can pill up on dryer skin, but it is easily wiped off with a dry wash rag.
Balm Dotcom - 5 // This super thick skin salve is my savior for my constantly dry lips. I love the cherry flavor for a bit of subtle color. I use the classic flavor on my lips as a mask before bed and as a cuticle treatment.
Super Pack Serums - 4 // The serums are a great mix of hydrating, acne clearing, and glow boosting solutions. I use Super Bounce almost daily. I had the other two at one time, but have yet to re-order.
Solution - 3.5 // This product has me torn. I like the concept of sweeping away dead skin cells, but I have yet to see a drastic change. I'll keep using it and report back. I have found that just swiping this on my T-zone is the best usage of it.
Soothing Face Mist - 4.5 // The updated face mist is amazing. It has a finer mist and much more soothing formula.
Greens Mask - 3 // I do like this mask, though it has been a bit rough on my sensitive skin. I get some redness after leaving it on for the full 20 mins, but when I bump the time down to 10, the redness doesn't appear.
Glossier takes a natural, low maintenance approach to makeup. They designed their products to be super high quality while enhancing your natural beauty.
I start my makeup routine (after my skincare routine) by applying a base of glowy Skin Tint or Stretch Concealer, depending on my mood or how dolled up I want to be. I typically opt for the Stretch Concealer because it is more like a cream tinted moisturizer rather than a thick concealer. After the base, I tap Cloud Paint in Puff, the lightest pink shade, on the roundest part of my cheeks and follow with Cloud Paint in Haze under my cheekbones and towards the back of my cheeks. I swipe some Haloscope in Quartz on the top of my cheeks, down my nose, and across my lids for a glowy finish. I tap over the Haloscope to blend it evenly into my skin. Next, I shape up my brows with Boy Brow in Blonde (the shades run dark). Lastly, I tap and blend Wowder in Light on my chin, forehead, and on either side of my nose to set things and nix any unwanted shine. On v fancy days, I wear Generation G in Zip, a bold poppy red.
Stretch Concealer - 5 // Skin perfecting and dewy! I use this as a tinted moisturizer since it isn't as thick or matte as a normal concealer.
Wowder - 5 // I love how soft and light this powder is. It doesn't feel like you're wearing heavy powder at all. I use it to set my concealer on my T-zone and nix greasy-looking shine.
Haloscope - 5 // The holy grail of cream highlighters, Haloscope uses ACTUAL CRYSTALS like Rose Quartz and Golden Topaz to give it a natural shimmer as well as using natural moisturizers to perfect skin.
Cloud Paint - 5 // The cheek color to end all cheek colors - its the best blush ever. It is as easy to use as finger paint... finger paint on your face.
Boy Brow - 5 // A nourishing brow gel that fills in and sculpts brows for gorgeous face-framing babes.
Generation G Lipstick - 5 // My favorite lipstick ever - it stays put without drying out, is matte, and comes in 6 versatile shades.
Lidstar Eyeshadow - 4.5 // This stuff stays put on your lid through hell and back! Plus, you can mix them together for a custom shade.
Perfecting Skin Tint - 2.5 // Super light and moisturizing - too sheer for my taste, I like more coverage.
Skincare Tips For Glowing Skin
Facial massage/ jade rolling - I've been all about jade rolling recently. It boosts your skin's circulation to provide better blood flow to your facial tissues giving you plump, healthy skin.
Exfoliation - Keeping your skin's cell turnover going requires it to be exfoliated every now and then. Natural skin turnover can be a bit uneven, so a weekly exfoliating mask is the best way to keep new skin cells generating.
Hydrating Serum - I highly recommend adding a good serum to your beauty routine. Serums hit your skin with nourishing shit right after cleansing so it soaks in before anything else.
Moisturizer - After serum you MUST use a moisturizer. Duh. But not all moisturizers are created equal - use one with hyaluronic acid and added vitamins for an intense, glow-boosting hydration.
Internal Hydration!!! - Drink water with lemon for max skin hydration from the inside out
Makeup Faves for Glowing Skin
Hydrating foundation with SPF - Chanel CC Cream is literally my everything. It is hydrating, blurs imperfections, and has SPF 50 in it. My other go-to is Bobbi Brown's Intensive Skin Serum Foundation because it is made with HALF of my fave serum and its SPF 40.
Illuminating bronzer - I really love this cream bronzer from Chanel which happens to be a cult fave of makeup artists, but my daily go-to is the Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Summertime. Its illuminating without being sparkly and glowy without being wet-looking. Perf. And its less than $20.
Glowing cheeks - My fave blush by far has to be Glossier's Cloud Paint in Puff. It is buildable, a little goes a LONG way, and it is made with skin-loving ingredients like collagen that plump your skin with hydration.
Y'ALL... I feel as if I've been all over the world this summer. I was in Paris all of June then California, North Carolina x2 and all over Texas for July - I haven't been home for more than four days in a row. I have NEVER traveled so much in my life and I weirdly kind of love it. Living out of a carry-on has forced me to parse down all my crap into the true essentials. Don't get me wrong, I adore all of my crap, but I can't tell you how freeing it is to know that you don't need as much stuff as you think you do.
For my makeup and skincare travel essentials, I only have two requirements. First, they have to be less than 3.5 oz so I can take them in my carry on and avoid the nightmare of getting my checked bag lost (happened in NY three years ago and I am still not over it). Second, they have to be good quality because duh. I found almost all of my beauty travel essentials at Sephora in the "dangerous zone of tiny products" right before the check out counter. This zone gets me EVERY TIME because all of the minis are too damn cute to pass by. I know you know what I'm talking about. You can find some fab little travel-sized goodies there, or even just minis to try before you splurge on the full-sized version.
I've linked my fave travel essentials in the "shop the post" section at the bottom where you can buy them online as well as explained where I got each one in store!
Chanel CC Cream - (Nordstrom) My go-to foundation happens to be carry-on size! This tinted beauty balm is awesome because it has nice coverage without being too cakey. It is moisturizing and great for sensitive skin.
Bobbi Brown Mini Medium Bronzer - (Found at Sephora's "dangerous zone of tiny products") This bronzer is teeny, yet super potent - perfect for a quick & easy glow on the go.
Bobbi Brown Smoky Eye Mini Mascara - (Sephora's danger zone) A mini version of one of my fave mascaras.
Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff - (glossier.com) This blush is perfect because all you need is your fingertips for perfect application.
Sonia Kashuk Brush - (Target) I love these brushes. I think they are not only better but also half the price of the Sephora brushes.
Foreo Play - (Sephora's danger zone) This is my favorite little facial cleansing brush!! It vibrates for a deep clean and helps speed up cell turnover for a youthful glow.
Mario Badescu Cucumber, Aloe and Green Tea Facial Spray in 2oz size - (Ulta's "dangerous zone of tiny products") This spray is the perfect pick-me-up for dry, dull post-flight skin. It is full of soothing ingredients and smells like heaven.
Glossier Super Bounce Serum - (glossier.com) The best hyaluronic acid serum I've ever come across. Remember when I raved about it a few weeks ago in the Glossier post? Still obsessed.
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - (Sephora's danger zone) Clean and soft skin are always a must and this little cleanser gives you just that. It is loaded with amino acids and is super gentle on even sensitive skin.
Living Proof Travel Trio - (Sephora's danger zone! Told you I went a little cray there.) A haircare fave in a mini version!
Chanel makeup was my very first makeup crush going all the way back to a rose-scented blush I splurged on back in my freshman year of high school. It has remained my guilty pleasure ever since, and I actually still have that blush. Chanel's make up products are gorgeous, super long lasting, and top quality. The lipsticks have been a favorite of mine for a long time, and I thought I'd share my three favorite types that I use most often.
CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE VELVET
I wear this lipstick to all of my big events to give my look a wow factor. This velvety lipstick is incredibly long lasting and even stays put through a few glasses of champagne. My favorite shade, shown here, is L'Eclatante, which means radiant.
CHANEL ROUGE COCO SHINE
This is a lippy that I LOVE for everyday wear when you feel like getting a teeny bit glammed up. It is more like a balm than a true lipstick and is very hydrating. It goes on glossy with a bit of color, so its not overly intense. My favorite color is Mighty, shown here.
CHANEL ROUGE COCO
This lipstick is a perfect mix of hydration and vibrancy. It is long-wear color with smoothing jojoba and mimosa butters. My fave color is Emilienne! All of the colors in this signature line are named after people in Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel's life! Emilienne d'Alençon was Gabrielle's first customer when Chanel was starting off as a couture hat designer.
